The Iconic Haul

The Iconic is an Australian online fashion retailer which has some great pieces. There was a 50% off sale over the weekend on selected pieces which my friend told me about and I'm really excited to show y'all.

Firstly, I got a white crop top. It's a good fit and good length (I'm not a fan of overly short tops) but it's too sheer which I'm a little annoyed about. I'm going to try wearing this a few more times as it didn't look great initially on me but The Iconic has a great return policy, which is good just in case I do need to return something.

Next, I bought a palm tree tube skirt from New Look. I think this is such a cute, summery number and great for only £5.  I love the palm tree print. Do you? Also we don't have New Look in Australia so this was pretty cool.

Last was by far my favourite purchase. The shoes! I've been eyeing a similar style to this from Topshop for ages (T-Bar Geek Shoes) and was so close to buying them earlier this week. I was a little sad that the black was sold out but I'm so glad I got white instead because I do have a lot of black shoes I really love so this was a nice change. I can't wait to wear this with frilly socks or a nice skater skirt or skinny light jeans and I think this is just perfect. Aaaah and only £5 too.

How was your recent purchase?

Lush Haul

I did it! I finally did it- I bought a Lush bath bomb. I'm really happy I did and I can't wait to use it. I got sick on the weekend so I'm even more excited to use this soon as I really need a calm, relaxing bath. I got the Rose Queen Bath Ball for £2 and it says 'a rose tinted spectacle bath. For times when all you want to see is the rosier side of life'. I heard flowers come out of this as well which I think will make me feel like a princess. A princess with a cold haha.

I have to say the workers at Lush are the nicest people! They were so generous and bubbly and always willing to help. The lady suggested to try Angels on Bare Skin Cleanser and went on to give me a sample which I'm really excited to try. I'll tell you how both my products go x

June Wishlist

Petite Lace Bralet // Topshop // £22
Light Pink Polka Dot Casual Shorts // River Island // £20
Heights Double Strap Sandals // Topshop // £26
NYX Matte Lipstick- Indie Flick // Nasty Gal // £4
Studded Bowling Bag // Zara // £40
Chen Chen and Kai Williams Pineapple Plant // Nasty Gal // £28
Leaf Print Crinkle Overlay Sundress // Topshop // £38

I can't believe we're around half-way through the year. As you may know, Australia is currently in winter but that doesn't stop me from browsing online and seeing what I want to wear for summer. As always, I'm a huge fan of pastels, lace and polka dots. My mum had a pair of sandals like the one on the wishlist and she let me wear them but I though they were so ugly- I was about eight. I'm really loving the trend of 'ugly shoes' and just the revival of the 90s in general. I think the leaf print sundress is very pretty and has the summery vibes. And don't forget the brights for summer, I'm starting out small by going with a bright red lipstick from NYX. This brand is so inexpensive and I've heard great reviews but they're not available in Australian stores. One day.... One day I'll have a piece of bright clothing on my wishlist... One day.

The Fault in Our Stars

Source: Tumblr

On Tuesday afternoon, my friends and I decided to watch the newest and most talked about film at the moment, 'The Fault in Our Stars'. I read the book in 'my' summer holiday so that was January, about half a year ago and so I was really looking forward to it because I thoroughly enjoyed.

I got lipstick on my notebook :( But look at my ticket!!

I'm not going to spoil too much because this movie has just been released and some people may want to see it without knowing (but most of us have read the book anyway)

Let's just say, I cried, a lot. Little trickles down my cheek but as soon as the scene cut, I kind of calmed down and then the tears kept coming- by the end, I was gushing. Basically all the scenes where Hazel cries near the end of the film, I cry too. I wonder what I would have looked like had I worn mascara. Haha.

I absolutely adored Augustus in the book, he was a charming, witty character so of course all the unfortunate things that happened to him near the end, I really felt it. Not to say I didn't like Hazel. Watching her struggle up the stairs whilst also believing in herself showed me the very essence of breathing- being present.

I love the message of the film about living an extraordinary life isn't about being remembered by everyone but by being remembered by a few deeply. The cigarette from Augustus has become one of my favourite metaphors how you put killing thing right between the teeth but you don't give it the power to do the killing. The last words of the film are slightly different,  I didn't even notice since some of my quotes were a bit hazy but I actually preferred the lines from the film than to the book.

It's definitely a film you want to see and I will definitely recommend it, if you haven't read the book, go read- it is a brilliant read, I read it in one day (crying into my pillow at the end of it) and then go watch the film, okay?

Okay.
