Music Playlist: #1

How's everyone? ♥ I'm doing this new thing where i make a music playlist on the songs I've been recently seeing to every Monday and I may extend it to new artists I have been discovering but for the meanwhile here's my playlist (!).

1 Fancy by Iggy Azalea feat. Charli XCX
I've been listening to this song for weeks!!! I'm not even joking, i love this song. Iggy kills all her rap verses and Charlie XCX's hook is so very catchy. I love the Clueless vibe in the music video because it is one of my favourite movies which makes the song even more wonderful.

2 Ultraviolet by Stiff Dylans
I'm not going to lie, Fancy did make me go on a chick flick spree because it just reminded me so much of Clueless. Does anyone remember Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging? I loved the film (and looking at Aaron Johnson (Robbie) and now in awe that he is married to someone twice his age but good for him). This song played at the end and it's just so feel-good, a good track to dance to. It's not exactly the type of song I would normally listen to but it's just so upbeat and lovely.

3 Great DJ by The Ting Tings
Ok this song also featured in Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging too. Aaah the good old days of 2008. I love the Ting Tings because of their raw, catchy upbeat fabulousity and this song with the augmented riff and infectious energy makes it a great tune. Where did they goooooo?

4 Girls and Boys in Love by The Rumble Strips
This song is so catchy and feel good (as well as cheesy) and yes I know, was also in Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging haha. Everytime I listen to this, I imagine a boy chasing a playful way not a murderous way haha. I used to love the poppy indie sound but I have slightly evolved from it but this song is still lovely.

5 Hold On by The Kooks
I've loved the Kooks from the start but their new tracks weren't clicking with me initially which was disappointing so I have been re-listening so they can grow on me. From Down EP, this track stood out the most with the electric violins and disco, soulful vibe (and add Luke's falsetto which is great) and I enjoyed it. I've never heard the Kooks like this before.

What have you been listening to this week? And what are your favourite chick flicks?

Birthday Haul ♡

Happy birthday to me! I just turned 17 this week and I had a lovely birthday. My parents (and my brother) gave me the coolest card which was ace and we went out to the gardens having lunch and walking around the city.  And then the birthday cake!! And then we went out to a lovely restaurant for dinner. But along the way I had to get my mum into Topshop so I thought I'll show you the things I bought. I feel every haul I do is from Topshop so I'll spice it up soon. Haha.

These shoes are the bomb diggity. They look absolutely fab and I've been looking for a pair of cutout black sandals for a while. I've definitely thinking you will see these a lot in my future outfit posts.

Winter is soon approaching in Australia, it's already getting chilly sometimes, and this cardigan is so soft and is a lovely, slightly boxy fit. I love the colour, which is called "charcoal" which reminds me sitting next to the warm fireplace so lovely for winter.

I love denim! And I love dresses! Hence I love denim dresses. This dress has a lovely shape and I think it is very versatile. I can't wait to wear this. I tried this dress a size down because my size wasn't in stock. Obviously I didn't fit but luckily, there was a dress in my size in the rack in the dressing room which fitted perfectly so I was really happy! Aha

I need a new school bag. (Everything just breaks when it is in my hands muahaha) I think it's very cute and it's also quite functional as well because I can fit my books and laptop but I haven't used it officially for school yet so we'll get the final verdict soon.

And to other random things:

This birthday card is so ace. I like cows haha. Mooooooooo!
And the birthday cake! Ta-da!

When is your birthday? Have to be honest and say that April babies are the best. Not biased at all :)

♡ My New Computer + Music Playlist ♡

I hope everyone is having a lovely Easter break! My really exciting news is I have a new computer: a MacBook Pro!! *gasps*

I know it's not the newest model in the market. My dad used it.. And then my brother... And then me. But despite it's not as light or not as new, it still has all the functions and it's better than my old laptop which has lasted me six years but I've broken 4 computer keys (losing the 's' key was annoying), and it has a long uninterrupted droning noise and it randomly shuts down every now and again so I think it was finally time to let go.

I'm really excited about this and hopefully blogging will be a lot more fun!

And while I'm at it, I thought I'll write a music playlist. I'm going to call it Music Monday (how original haha) and I think it's going to be a compilation of my favourite songs I have been listening for that week. I know it's not Monday but this is an exception. It may be a fortnightly playlist if I don't listen to much particularly one week. So let's get started shall we?

1. Love Letters by Metronomy

I only discovered this band a month ago but they are absolutely amazing. They are fun, quirky and fantastically original and groovy. My favourite part of this song is when Prior belches out "Love Letters" over the strong rhymtmic synth, bass and drums in the chorus. It just sounds really fun and very catchy as well.

2. There Is No Other Time by Klaxons

I completely forgot about their new single which actually came out in February whoops! The chrous is so catchy and it oozes with mystery through the shimmery synths. It really feels like 90s dance beat which I love but the thing that has always appeal to be from the Klaxons is their upbeat synthesized messy energy which was from their first album, think Gravity's Rainbow and Golden Skans. And unfortunately I miss that.

3. No Diggity by Chet Faker (cover)

No Diggity by Blackstreet is classic, effortless and smooth with its soulful 90s R&B. It's one of my favourite songs of all time and then Pitch Perfect came along and I fell in love with the song even furher. But Chet Faker makes his cover his own and it's just as good as the original. It's subtlety mixed with beauty and the track is very chilled. Also the Klaxons cover of this song is pretty cool too.

4. West Coast by Lana del Rey
I love the ethereal dreaminess of the tune and the breathy, cooing vocals from Lana in the chrous. The song is stunning, atmospheric. Lana is intriguing compared to the normal pop songs of today and I am really excited for her new album, Ultraviolence. Also Dan Auerbach from The Black Keys help produce this so yay!

5. She's Electric by Oasis

I don't quite remember how I initially discovered the song except the fact I added it on my Spotify playlist. From the same album as Wonderwall and Don't Look Back in Anger, She's Electric is more playful, light-hearted and enjoyable. Sort of like a sing-along song. You know what I mean when you hear it.

Do you like the songs I have been listening to this week?

Body Shop Strawberry Shower Gel | Review

The Body Shop has such beautiful products so I had high hopes for this shower gel. I bought the strawberry one because strawberries are nice.

When I opened this, I could smell the scent of strawberries which was really lovely. And you can smell the scent when you're showering but unfortunately, it doesn't last very long which is a shame because I wished the scent would last longer so I could smell like strawberries even after the shower. I felt for me that was the biggest and only downfall of this product. Or maybe it was just my bottle? Have you tried this before and if yes, did the lovely smell linger after the shower?

It does lather quite well by making bubbles and it is very thick which makes you feel so clean. It leaves your skin smooth and soft. The consistency of the shower gel is also quite good and did I say it smells gorgeous?

And even though I only bought a 60mL bottle which was $5 (£2), each application doesn't use a lot which means I can use it for a while. I've been using it for about two weeks now and it still looks like the bottle is full haha

Rating: 4/5

Topshop Haul

Just a reminder, if you have a free period (no class) and you have class after lunch, either go out straight away during your free or don't go out at all. That's the lesson I learnt.

I thought I could leave at about 12 pm, halfway though my free, half an hour before lunch and thought, aaah that should be fine.

I've been a bit poor in terms of cash but that didn't stop me going to Topshop because they had a sale.

The first thing I got was a yellow crochet top which was such a steal at £5. All the sizes were way too big but there was one my size which was perfect!

I also bought this lovely red nail polish for £3. I feel despite autumn and winter coming, I feel like I'm already buying for summer. I've never bought Topshop nail polish before and now I finally have! Yay!!

And then that's when hell broke loose... going back to school. I mean at 12:30pm you don't feel the panic but by 12:50pm, you're like shit and class starts at 1 pm so I need to get back. This involves frantic running and nervousness because running late to class is inevitable.

Fortunately, we had a substitute and she hadn't marked the roll was I was safe. But what a day haha!
