Australia Day

Hello everyone! ♥

Today was the 26th of January which is a special day because it is Australia Day! Wooo! For many of you who aren't Australian, it is a national public holiday which commemorates the anniversary when the First Fleet arrived into Sydney Harbour in 1788. It's a day of celebration and a day to commemorate achievements, culture, history and new Australian citizens. It is day of not only celebration and commemoration but of relaxation and spending quality time with people you love.

And no Australia Day is complete without a barbecue. Ha ha.

Today, I thought I would wear my new overalls since it was a relaxing day, something laidback. I used to wear overalls all the time as a kid but I always thought it was embarrassing. But have no fear, because I'm rocking the trend almost ten years later and I have to say, why was I so embarrassed? And they are polka-dotted which makes them even more cuter ♥

Overalls: Cotton On, Shirt: Miss Shop, Shoes: Topshop

In addition, Triple J, an Australian radio station which emphasizes on alternative and Australian music, releases its yearly Hottest 100 list. I really look forward every year to the list because its a countdown voted by the public and I get excited to see which artists and songs made the list- the anticipation. It is fitting to have the annual list on Australia Day because many of the songs are by Australian artists and the exposure it allows them to grow is fantastic.

Left to Right (Clockwise)
1. Riptide - Vance Joy
2. Pure Heroine- Lorde
3. If You Wait - London Grammar
4. AM- Arctic Monkeys

Riptide by Vance Joy took out the number 1 spot. I wasn't expecting it to reach the top spot but well deserved. It's a lovely track and the video is just as good. Watch the Video

The collage I made featured some of the artists who made the list and they all had multiple entries. London Grammar and CHVRCHES were two of my new favourite bands in 2013. I can't stop listening to "Darling Are You Going to Leave Me" (mainly just replaying the first 40 seconds). Listen to Track Their whole album is phenomenal so do check it out, particularly "Strong" which came at No. 10!

"Recover" by CHVRCHES made No. 28, their highest entry, and they deserve it. The song as well as their album is amazing. Listen to Awesomeness

And Lorde was just being Lorde. Nuff said. "Royals" made No.2 and "Tennis Court" came at No. 12. Love Lorde. ♥

And the boys from Sheffield bought out a perfect album last year with AM. Being my favourite band and having so much hype recently, I expected more entries from them but the whole album is just amazing.

If you are curious to find out more, check The Hottest 100 List. It's worth a look. You might find something new ♥
